Our Centers strive to provide a developmentally appropriate
program where all children are able to grow as individuals
in a loving environment as they master skills and develop
a positive self- image. Our goal is to offer not only a warm,
nurturing environment, but also a safe and healthy one where
your child can learn at his/her own pace.
Creative Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum for early childhood emphasizes that
relationships between caregivers/teachers and children and
families are the focus of curriculum for very young children.
It is based on accepted theories of child development and
the latest research on the importance of early learning and
the development of the brain. It was originally published
in 1979. The Creative Curriculum has been implemented in
a wide range of early childhood programs and public schools
across the United States, Canada, and Australia. The Creative
Curriculum is rooted in educational philosophy and theory
as well as practice. It builds on Erik Erikson's stages of
socio-emotional development, Jean Piget's theories of how
children think and learn, principles of physical development,
and an appreciation of cultural influences. Children can
feel safe and encouraged to explore not only materials but
also their relationship with their peers and adults.
The Curriculum encourages both autonomy and self-control. Children learn
how to handle their feelings in acceptable, socially appropriate ways. Competence
and initiative are fostered in this type of environment. Children's concerns
about doing things "right" diminish because they are encouraged to
learn from their mistakes, to explore, and to take risks.
