What will my child do during the day?
Every class from infants to preschool functions with a balanced
daily schedule and weekly lesson plan. We use a curriculum
called “Creative Curriculum” which is widely used and respected. Check
your child’s classroom for details regarding their daily
schedule.
Will my child go outside?
Our children spend their day actively exploring the classroom
environment as well as the outdoor environment. Our
teachers include outdoor learning activities to help them
explore the natural environment. Plenty of time is
left for them to develop their small and large muscles.
Can I visit my child during the day?
We have an open door policy; you’re welcome to visit any
time. We hope you will feel that you are a part of
our extended Growing Child family.
What are your teacher qualifications?
We strive to hire individuals who have completed a state
sponsored childcare credential program. In addition,
75% of our lead teachers have college degrees with coursework
in child development. CPR, First Aid, SIDS training,
and ongoing education are requirements for all teachers.
Aside from formal education, our teachers are individuals
who are patient, loving, and nurturing to young children.
What do you serve for lunch?
It is a challenge to create meals that all of our
children will eat. Preschool children are notorious
for being picky eaters. We require our food to be plentiful
and easy for infants, toddlers, and young children to manage. To
ensure we stay within nutritional guidelines, our menus are
monitored by the USDA food program. Our students seem
pleased with our kid friendly choices.
What do I do if I have a special concern about
my child?
Our Director’s door is always open to you. We want
our families to feel their child is getting the best care
available. Please feel free to address any and all
concerns as soon as possible to your Director. Nothing
is too small to bring to our attention. Your child’s
care is our top priority.
What happens when my child is ready to advance
to the next classroom?
We are constantly monitoring your child’s development. When
it’s time for your child to move to the next age group, we
will begin a visitation process. Because children can
differ in personality and temperament, some adjust immediately
while others may need more time. Parents often seem
to have more difficulty than their children parting from
favorite teachers! In no time, you and your child will
develop attachments to the new teachers.
What do I need to bring?
A seasonal change of clothing (and either water shoes, tennis
shoes, or flip flops when potty training), a small blanket
(no pillows please), and small sleep toy if desired. If
applicable, diapers and wipes. We ask that you leave
your diaper bag in your car, as many of them contain diaper
cream and/or medications that require parent instructions
and a locked storage location.
How do I enroll?
Enrollment for our programs is ongoing year round. Once
you place a registration fee, you will receive an enrollment
packet that includes an application, emergency form, physical
form, and a parent handbook. Payment is due the day
you begin care (tuition will be pro-rated for families that
start after the 1st of the month), and on the first and 15th
of the month thereafter. For your convenience, Automatic
Bank Draft from your checking account is available.
